This is an interesting technical solution that allows using one type of keyboards for different models (options) of the same device. Different descriptions of the keys can be entered (for example, depending on the features available in particular version). Inserts may also contain information about the parameters of the device, manufacturer, etc. The use of this technology does not cause the loss of keyboard (nameplate) airtightness.
